PHILADELPHIA (October 22, 2000) -- The Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Music Alliance proudly announces the inductees to the Walk of Fame 2000. The Walk of Fame honors musicians and music professionals who have made a significant contribution to the city's rich musical landscape. Cecily Tynan of WPVI, Channel 6 Action News and ABC's "Good Morning, America," will emcee the event.

The Walk of Fame 2000 Inductees are recording and screen star Fabian. Plaques honoring the inductees will be unveiled along Broad Street's Avenue of the Arts in front of the Doubletree Hotel and The Wilma Theater, Locust & Spruce Streets during a press conference and public ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2000.

The Philadelphia music Alliance is a non-profit cultural organization that promotes and preserves Philadelphia's rich musical community. Founded by local industry leaders in 1986, the Alliance offers a variety of programs including a musical instrument donation program in partnership with Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, an annual piano completion, the Philadelphia International Airport Music Project and a website highlighting the Music Alliance and its programs, including the Walk of Fame and biographical information about it's past inductees.

Fabian, an overnight singing sensation, a film star with over 30 films to his credit who continues to work actively as both an entertainer and a producer who discovered at the tender age of 14 sitting on his front steps in Philadelphia. At 15, he won the Silver Award as "The Most Promising Male Vocalist of 1958" and earned Gold records for "Turn Me Loose" and "Tiger" and a Gold Album for "The Fabulous Fabian". In 1959, Fabian made his scree debut in "Hound Dog Man" opposite Carol Lynley. His impressive acting credits include featured roles with John Wayne, James Stewart, Jack Palance and Tuesday Weld as well as numerous television and commercial appearances. Fabian continues to perform live with Frankie Avalon and Bobby Rydell as the Golden Boys, playing to packed houses around the country and on Television specials such as "The American Music Awards", "Miss Teenage America" and command Performance: An All Star Salute To The President."
